DMP 2200 (260-1279) Paperloading Procedure Faxback Doc. # 4556 PAPER LOADING Warning! When loading paper, be sure the paper correctly enters the paper insertion opening. It is very important that the paper enters the DMP-2200 straight. The paper must be directly behind the Printer or paper skewing or jamming may occur. Proper positioning of the paper guide is also important to help prevent paper jamming. If the fanfold paper is correctly loaded, it should enter between the body of the printer and the paper separator. Once the paper is loaded and the power is ON, check the ALERT indicator. If the lamp flashes, the paper is probably loaded incorrectly. If the lamp does not flash or illuminate after the paper is loaded, you may begin printing. FANFOLD PAPER The DMP-2200 will accept standard fanfold paper that is from 4" to 16" wide. The paper may contain one original and up to five copies. To load fanfold paper into the DMP-2200: 1. Set the POWER ON/OFF switch to OFF. 2. Open the top cover. 3. Move both the FRICTION/PIN FEED and LOAD PAPER/READY levers toward the rear of the printer. 4. Release the pin feed clamp levers, located on the outside of each clamp, by pulling them up. This unlocks the paper clamps so that they can be moved to adjust for different paper widths. 5. Insert the paper through the paper insertion opening. Roughly align the pin feed clamps to the paper width. 6. Pull up the tractor feed and rotate it toward the rear of the Printer. This allows access to the bottom pin feed sprockets. 7. Feed the paper until the leading edge extends over the pin feed sprockets. Open the bottom pin feed paper clamps and align the holes in the paper with the pin feed sprockets. Only the first two or three holes need to be engaged at this moment. 8. Close the pin feed paper clamps. Return the tractor feed to its original position. 9. Use the paper feed knob to pull the paper around until it passes be- tween the platen and the print head to the tractor feed. 10. Open the top pin feed paper clamps. Align the holes in the paper with the pin feed sprockets. Close the pin feed paper clamps. 11. Position both pin feed clamps so the paper is neither tense nor loose. Lock the clamp levers to secure the paper. 12. Move the FRICTION/PIN FEED and LOAD PAPER/READY levers toward front of the Printer. 13. Set the PAPER ADJUSTMENT LEVER to the appropriate position. SINGLE-PART FORMS. Push the lever as far as it will go toward the platen. MULTIPLE-PART FORMS. Temporarily position the lever to the number on the scale which corresponds to the number of copies. The print head must be as close to the platen as possible without smudging the paper. Check for smudging by moving the carriage back and forth at each lever setting. WARNING! The PAPER ADJUSTMENT LEVER must always be set as close to the platen as possible; otherwise, damage to the print head may result. 14. Close the top cover. HINTS AND TIPS ON FANFOLD PAPER LOADING: * Remember to set the FRICTION/PIN FEED lever and LOAD PAPER/READY lever toward the front of the Printer. * Be sure that the paper is positioned so that it can travel through the Printer without bending. * Do not let paper pile up on top of unprinted paper, since printed paper may be pulled back into the paper insertion opening. This could jam the paper feed or damage the Printer. ADJUSTING THE TOP-OF-FORM The vertical print start position is three inches from the arrow mark on the panel in front of the tractor feed. Align the line on the paper (which is three inches above the starting position you want) with the arrow mark. Yypically, the form has lines of 1/3" interval. If you are using such forms, count nine lines up from the print start position. (dtc-07/26/93)
