LP 990 (260-2879) Printer Drivers Faxback Doc. # 4669 LOADING THE PRINTER DRIVER Most software lets you specify printing information. Special files, called printer drivers, are provided with the software. A printer driver tells the computer what information to send to the printer. For each software package you use, load its HP LaserJet Series II printer driver onto your computer. When you print the from the software, be sure you select the HP LaserJet Series II printer driver. See the user's manual for your software. If your software does not support the HP LaserJet Series II emulation mode, load and select the printer driver for an emulation mode that it does sup- port. The printer can emulate the Epson FX-80, IBM Proprinter, IBM Graphics Printer, or the Diablo 630/630 ECS. You must first change the emulation mode setting in the printer's configuration menu; see "Menu Settings." EDITING YOU AUTOEXEC.BAT FILE The printer's buffer holds information the printer has not yet printed. When the buffer is full, the printer sends a busy signal to the computer. This might cause some software to display an error message such as Printer Not Ready. To avoid this, we suggest you use your word processor or DOS text editor to enter the following line in your computer's autoexec.bat file: mode lpt1:,,p (smm 07/27/93)
