For thicker paper or multi-copy forms, you can manually feed one sheet at a time. CAUTION: * You can only print on multi-copy forms that are joined at the top or bottom of the form. Do not try to print on forms that are joined on the left of right side of the form. * Be sure nothing blocks the paper's path as it feeds out of the printer. USING THE PAPER CASSETTE Follow these steps to load paper into the paper cassette. 1. Push the paper cassette release in the direction shown. The paper cassette pops out. Slide out the paper cassette. 2. Lift and remove the paper cassette cover. 3. Fan and stack the paper. 4. Push down the sheet lifter and place the corners of the paper under the claws. Then, slide the paper against the paper holding plate. Do not stack paper above the top of the paper holding plate. NOTE: Be sure the side you want to print on is facing up. Be sure the top of the paper (the letterhead, for example) is near the claws. 5. With TOP facing up, replace the paper cassette cover. 6. Slide the paper cassette into place. NOTES: * Use only letter-size paper. * Do not use bent or curled paper. * If you move the printer, be sure the paper is correctly set in the paper cassette before you begin printing. If you try to print when the paper cassette is out of paper, the PAPER OUT indicator lights and the printer goes off line. Reload the paper cassette. Then, press ON LINE/OFF LINE so that the ON LINE indicator lights. The PAPER OUT indicator turns off and printing begins. MANUALLY FEEDING PAPER Follow these steps to manually feed one sheet of paper at a time. 1. Push the paper cassette release in the direction shown. The paper cassette pops out. Slide out the paper cassette. 2. If necessary, press ON LINE/OFF LINE so that the ON LINE indicator lights, then, press MANUAL|LQ/DP/SSD so that the MANUAL indicator lights. 3. Pull down the manual-feed guide. 4. Slide the paper guides to correct width. Insert the paper beneath the paper guides. NOTES: * Be sure the paper's center is above the manual-feed guide's center mark. * Be sure the side you want to print on is facing up. Be sure the top of the paper (the letterhead, for example) is on the end away from the printer. 5. Gently push the paper toward the printer. When the printer receives data from the computer, the printer feeds the paper and prints. Be sure you close the manual-feed guide before you use the paper cassette. (dkh-07/27/93)
