DMP-310 (26-2876) Turning the Printer On and Off Faxback Doc. # 4713 Set the POWER switch on the back of the printer to | (on) to turn on the printer. If you connected the printer to a power strip, be sure the power strip is turned on. To manually pause printing, press ON LINE/OFF LINE so that the ON LINE indicator turns off. The printer can not receive information from the computer when it is off-line. To resume printing, press ON LINE/OFF LINE so that the ON LINE indicator lights. To turn off the printer or to manually stop printing in case of an emergency, set POWER to O (off). Any information in the printer's buffer is lost. To begin printing again, you must send a new print request from the computer. NOTES: * When you connect the printer to your computer, you must turn on the printer every time you turn on the computer. Turning the printer on and off, or leaving the printer off while operating the computer can cause the entire computer system to operate erratically. * Refer to your computer's owner's manual for any instructions for turning on peripheral devices, such as printers. You might need to turn on the printer before you turn on the computer. * When you turn off the printer, be sure you wait at least 3 seconds before you turn on the printer. Otherwise, you might damage the printer. * When you turn off the printer, it loses any information stored in the buffer. (The buffer holds information the computer has sent but the printer has not printed). * If you turn on the printer when paper is in the paper-feed path, the printer automatically ejects the paper.
