20 MB Hard Drive (250-3515) Initialization Faxback Doc. # 4796 NOTE: MS-DOS version 3.20.04 or higher must be used with the Hard Drive. 1. Place your DOS diskette in the floppy disk drive. 2. Now, switch on your Tandy 1400LT. What for the system to boot up fully. You would probably notice that the screen looks different. You will see the following box displayed on the top right hand corner of the screen. LD1400-20 Vx.xx @ Tandy Corporation 1988 Testing... 3. This is a self test performed by the LiteDrive as it powers up. This test will be carried out after the memory test. At the end of the test, a message would be displayed, stating that the LiteDrive is fully operational. 4. If the message doesn't appear at all, there is probably a problem with the installation. Switch off the power and try switching on again. If the message still doesn't appear, switch off the system. A Radio Shack service center will need to check the installation. 5. Similarly, if the message appears but it states that the LiteDrive is not operational; this also indicates there is a problem that will need to be checked by a service center. 6. If everything is fine, you will then see a subsequent message stating that the system is attempting to boot from floppy. When the system prompts you for the date and time, enter the details. After that, replace your MS-DOS diskette with the LiteDrive Drive Utilities diskette. Type the following command. FORMAT C:/S NOTE: A low level format has already been performed for your drive. If for some reason you need to perform a low level format again, see the section 'PREP PROGRAM'. 7. Subsequently, you will be asked to place you DOS diskette in drive A and strike ENTER. Follow the instructions as given on the screen. The system will then give you the warning that all data on the non removable drive will be destroyed and whether you want to proceed. Type Y . 8. The system will then commence formatting your LiteDrive. This is quite a lengthy process. Once this is completed, you LiteDrive is ready for use and you can start up your computer directly from the LiteDrive. (dkh-07/29/93)
