2400/9600 BPS Faxmodem (250-3027) Addendum Faxback Doc. # 4866 USER'S MANUAL ADDITIONS: PLEASE READ FIRST! Do not change your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to load POPPRINT and FAXMAN automatically. During installation, MTEZ tells you how to do this, but we advise NOT doing this, because then you will not be able to receive a data call. Instead, follow the directions in the manual to load FAXMAN from your \MTEZ directory when you are ready to send or receive faxes. TO RECEIVE DATA AFTER FAXING: You have to tell your modem to receive and send data rather than faxes. If you are going to enter host mode to have your modem answer data calls automatically, make sure you do not load FAXMAN. If you have loaded FAXMAN, unload it with the following procedure: From the \MTEZ directory type FAXMAN /R then press the ENTER key. The command should look like: C:\MTEZ>FAXMAN /R SETTING UP YOUR SYSTEM FOR DATA COMPRESSION: For the highest speed file transfers, your modem can provide V.42bis data compression. You need to tell your software it can use this feature. 1) Follow the installation instructions in you MTEZ software manual. 2) This will load MTEZ for configuration. 3) From the Main Menu, choose Change, then choose Setup (or hold down the Alt-key and press S). 4) From the Setup menu, use the Tab and arrow keys to highlight "Dial EC Level". 5) Press the space bar to toggle this area to read V.42 bis. 6) Use the down arrow to highlight "Answer EC Level". 7) press the space bar to toggle this area to read V.42 bis. 8) Press the F10 key to save the change. Note: If the V.42bis choice does not appear, use the Tab key to select Modem Type. Press the F2 key to choose your modem and press the ENTER key to accept the choice. Then setup V.42 bis as above.
