2400 BPS Internal Faxmodem (250-3509) Installation Faxback Doc. # 4883 INSTALLING YOUR MODEM The following steps explain how to install your modem in your computer. Follow these instructions carefully. CAUTIONS: * Before you install or remove boards in your computer, be sure to remove power from the computer and remove the battery and turn off RESUME, if available. Never insert or remove the modem with the power turned on. Disconnect all power cords. * Be sure to disconnect the telephone cable from the modem and remove any diskette from the computer. * Static electricity can damage your modem or computer. Install the modem in a static-free work area. Ground yourself on a metal grounded object before you begin this procedure. This does not release static electricity from your clothing. Be careful not to let your clothing touch exposed metal parts. 1. Lower the display panel until it clicks shut. 2. Push the battery to the left, and remove the battery pack. 3. Press down on the modem bay cover and slide off the cover. 4. Place the modem on top of the computer, next to the modem bay, as shown. 5. Carefully press the end of the cable into the computer's modem connector. When seated, the cable's contacts are barely visible. 6. Place the mode in the modem bay, and secure it with the two supplied screws. 7. Break off the punch-out panel on the modem bay cover. 8. Replace the modem bay cover. You can now begin to use your modem. (dtc-07/28/93)
