QUANTUM Q500 INSTALLATION

The Model Q500 drive is shipped with a face plate installed and shock 
mounts directly attached to base casting. 

1. Open the shipping container.

2. Remove the inner shipping container.

3. Open the inner container and remove the drive and sleeve.

4. Remove drive from sleeve.

NOTE: After unpacking the Model Q500, store the packing materials for 
possible future use.  The Model Q500 drive may be mounted in any orient-
ation and has two mounting brackets with integral shock mounts for this 
purpose. 

CAUTION: The base casting is very close to the drive mounting bracket. 
Mounting screw lengths must be chosen so that no more than .130" of the 
screw is available to enter the mounting bracket holes. This length will 
allow full use of the mounting hole threads and avoid damaging or placing 
unwanted stress on the base casting. To avoid stripping the mounting hole 
threads the maximum torque applied to the mounting screws must not exceed 
8 inch/pounds.
