ETHERNET PLUS-16 Adapter (260-5508) Features Faxback Doc. # 5162 This Ethernet adapter board is designed for use in Tandy and compatible computers. It connects to a local area network (LAN) using either standard Ethernet cable or 10BaseT unshielded twisted-pair wire and telephone-type modular plugs. In a network, the Ethernet adapter will operate with most network adapters that comply with the IEEE 802.3 10Base2, 10Base5, or 10BaseT Ethernet standards. In addition to this manual, the Ethernet adapters come with a SuperDisk diskette. The diskette contains drivers for most major network environments including Novell's NetWare, LAN Manager, and NetBIOS. Refer to the README.DOC file on the diskette for a complete listing of the drivers and information on installing the software driver programs. The software driver diskette also contains a setup program for configuring the adapter (if the preassigned jumper settings cannot be used because of conflicts with other boards installed in your computer). ETHERNET ADAPTER FEATURES * A single adapter provides all Ethernet cable connections: UTP, thin and thick coaxial cable networks. * Automatically determines when the UTP connection is being used. * One jumper selects most popular configurations. * Multiple LED indicators aid in network troubleshooting. * Automatic signal polarity detection and correction on UTP port. LED INDICATORS TRANSMIT LED: Lights when the adapter submits a packet to the network. RECEIVE LED: Lights when traffic is detected on the network. POLARITY AND LINK INTEGRITY LEDs: Lights are used for twisted pair connections. (css 08/03/93)
