Disk Cartridge Interface (260-6018) Install Faxback Doc. # 5180 1. Turn off the power to all peripherals and the computer. Disconnect the power cords of the peripherals and computer from the outlets. 2. Remove the access panel by loosening and removing the screws and then sliding the panel down and lifting it away from the computer. 3. Loosen the wiring harness running downward along the back of the boards by sliding the harness from under the plastic retaining clamp at the bot- tom. Exercise caution so that the glued connection does not come unglued (or otherwise broken). If the connection comes unglued, it must be re- glued. 4. Loosen and remove the 2 wires connected to the RH PCB retainer (in later versions the wires are connected to the card cage lower retainer brac- ket). Remove the screws attaching the PCB retainers to the card cage. 5. Insert the interface board (with the component side up and the card edge connection for the mother board forward) into the grooves of the first card slot above what is currently the last board in the daisy chain (the necessarily continuous sequence of interrupt driven boards). This daisy chain consists of the hard drive controller board, the multiuser board, and the ARCNET board. This now makes the interface board the last board (up from the bottom) in the interrupt daisy chain. Press firmly on the back edge of the board to fully engage it in the mother board connector. The rear edge of this board must align with the rear edge of the other boards in the computer. 6. Reattach the PCB retainers to the card cage. Reattach the 2 wires to the RH PCB retainer (or in later versions the card cage lower retainer brac- ket). 7. Reattach the wiring harness running downward along the back of the boards by sliding the harness under the plastic retaining clamp at the bottom. Exercise caution so that the glued connection does not come unglued (or otherwise broken). If the connection comes unglued, it must be reglued. 8. Attach the keyed connector on one end of the 50-pin disk drive cable to the keyed card edge connector on the interface P.C. board. Be sure the keyed portions are properly connected. 9. Remove the strain relief bracket nearest to the cable from the access panel. Run the cable downward through the "strain relief," leaving about 8 inches of cable between the strain relief and the computer. 10. Reattach the strain relief bracket, and run the cable through the notch in the computer base. 11. Reattach the access panel and tighten the screws. 12. Attach the other end of the keyed 50-pin disk drive interface cable to the keyed connector on the back of the cartridge disk drive. 13. Attach the power cords to each of the peripherals (including the Tandy Disk Cartridge System) and plug the cords into grounded electrical out- lets. After having read the Owner's Manual, you will be able to format your Tandy Disk Cartridge System and install the drivers. See the Formatting and Driver Installation instructions that accompany your Operating System software package. (css-08/03/93)
