WP-101 (260-3970) Card Memory Faxback Doc. # 5189 You can expand the WP-101's memory capability by inserting a card memory (26-3971) into the card memory slot on the left side of the WP-101. You can store files on it. Then, you can remove the card and keep it in a safe place. INSTALLING THE BATTERY If Card Battery Low appears during any card memory operations, the card battery is nearly drained. Replace the card battery before you lose the files in the card memory. 1. Be sure to turn on the WP-101. 2. Insert the card memory into the card memory slot. 3. While holding the card memory in place, pull out the battery holder. 4. Remove the old battery from the from the battery holder. 5. Install a new battery with its plus side facing up. 6. Carefully insert the battery holder into the card memory. CAUTION: Never remove the battery holder without first turning on the WP-101 and inserting the card memory into the card memory slot. If you remove the battery holder without inserting the card memory into the WP-101 is not turned on, all of the files stored on the card memory will be lost. INITIALIZE CARD MEMORY Before using a new card memory, you must initialize it to set up all the space in the card memory. Press MENU to display the menu screen. Press -> to select card memory. WARNING: If you initialize a card memory that contains files, these files are completely erased. Press 8. The initialize memory screen appears and asks if you really want to initialize it. Press Y to initialize the store memory. Press N to cancel the initialize function and return to the menu. WRITE PROTECTION To protect important text stored on a card memory, use the write protect feature on the card memory. Once you write protect it, you can not store, delete, or rename files on the card memory, nor can you initialize the card memory. To write protect the card memory while the card in inserted in the card slot, slide the switch on the end of the card toward the back of the word pro- cessor. To turn off the write protection, slide the switch toward the front of the word processor. If you have already removed the card memory from the WP-101, turn the card over so that you can see the write protect label. You can write protect the card memory by sliding the switch to ON. To turn off the write protection, slide the switch to OFF. CAUTION: Never turn off the WP-101 or remove the card memory while the word processor is saving a file. (css-08/04/93)
