Serial Mouse (25-1040D) Setting up the Mouse Faxback Doc. # 5333 The mouse drivers that come with your Radio Shack computer's operating system let your mouse work with your computer. The drivers track mouse position, keeps track of the position of the Mouse buttons, and display a cursor on your computer screen. If you do not have the mouse driver, contact your local Radio Shack store. We designed your mouse to be reliable and easy to use. Follow the instruc- tions in this manual to install your mouse and to configure its drivers for best operation with your software. SET UP Consult your computer manual for the location of the computer's serial port. If your serial port has a 25-pin female connector, you will need a DB9 to DB25 adapter (Cat. No. 260-1388). If your serial port has a 25-pin connector, you will need a special Radio Shack adapter ( Cat. No. 260-0287). To keep these connectors from coming loose, fasten the connectors together with ap- propriate size screws. 1. Turn off your computer and all peripherals. 2. Rotate the ring door on the bottom of the mouse so that the arrow points to "O", and remove the small sponge packing material. Replace the ring door so that the arrow points to "C." 3. Plug the connector into your computer's serial port. If you have two serial ports, you can plug the mouse connector into either one. The mouse software automatically initializes the correct port. 4. Place the mouse on a flat surface such as a table or desktop. Place a mouse pad (Such as Cat. No. 260-0237) between the flat surface and the mouse to provide optimum traction and to keep the mouse mechanism clean. 5. Turn on your computer and run the mouse drivers, following the instruc- tions in the next section. (css 07/30/93)
