CDR-1500 (250-1081) Care and Handling Faxback Doc. # 5375 PRECAUTIONS FOR USE 1. Discs that can operate on this CD-ROM drive follow the specification of the CD-ROM standard. 2. During operating, if the CD-ROM drive is subjected to a sudden shock or jolt, the drive may not operate. 3. Whenever moving the CD-ROM drive, be sure to first unload the CD Caddy. If the CD-ROM drive is moved with the CD Caddy loaded, the disc and the drive may be damaged. 4. Do not move the CD-ROM drive from a very cold room to a warm room. When a chilled CD-ROM drive is moved suddenly to a warm location, condensat- ion may form on the pick-up lens preventing proper operation. In this case, wait 30 minutes before resuming operations. 5. Do not insert the CD Caddy in the wrong direction. It may cause damage to the mechanism. 6. Do not store discs in high-temperature, high-humidity locations. The discs may develop warps and become unusable. Also, discs with moisture on them may not operate. Wipe any moisture off with a soft and dry cloth, and be sure discs are fully dry before using. 7. Do not install the CD-ROM drive in a place where an operating tempera- ture reaches beyond the specified temperature. 8. Do not install the CD-ROM drive in any equipment that generates electric noise. INSTRUCTIONS FOR HANDLING THE DISC 1. To Open Case: With the hinge (black bar) on the left hold the bottom- sides of the case with the right thumb in the 3 o'clock position and the right fingers at the 9 o'clock position. With the left hand on the top- sides, fingers and thumb in the 6 and 12 o'clock positions; open the case by lifting the top-side. 2. Remove Disc: Hold the disc by the edges, thumb at 6 o'clock and fingers at 12 o'clock; with the other hand, depress the center lock with the forefinger. 3. Always hold the disc by the edges. This will help keep the surface clean. * To remove any loose particles of dirt, dust, oil or fingerprints, use a clean, soft, dry cloth. * The CD-ROM disc should always be wiped in a straight line from center to edge with a dry, soft cloth. * Any solvent or abrasive cleaner must not be used on the disc. * Do not store or place the disc in a heated place. * Do not bend the disc. * Do not write on any surface of the disc using a ball point pen. * Do not clean the surface with any cloth soaked in water, solvents (ben- zine or thinners), silicon cloths, anti-static sprays, or any record cleaner sprays. * Do not scratch the surface of the disc while loading or unloading the player or storage case. * Do not make the center hole any larger. * Do not use a hair dryer to blow dust off or to remove any moisture from the disc surface. INSTRUCTIONS FOR HANDLING THE CD CADDY 1. Before use, clean off the inside and the outside of the CD Caddy. 2. Do not drop the CD Caddy. Protect it from damage, deformation, etc. 3. Do not use any wrapped, greasy or damaged CD Caddy as it might damage the disc or disable the CD Caddy ejection mechanism. 4. Be sure to apply the index label to the case. 5. Do not force the CD Caddy into the CDR-1500. If the CD Caddy cannot be inserted, check that the inserting direction is correct and the shutter is correctly located in the center position. 6. The CD Caddy must be kept in storage at -10 to 60 degrees Cent. maximum. 7. The CD Caddy must not be used above 45 degrees Cent. maximum to protect the disc. 8. Do not clean the surface with any cloth soaked in water, solvents (thin- ners, benzine), silicon cloths, anti-static sprays or any record cleaner sprays. (css 08/02/93)
