Standard Ethernet cable requires an external transceiver. The transceiver select jumper is installed at the factory in the BNC location for Thin Ethernet cable. If you are using standard Ethernet cable, you must change the jumper to the DNX location. SELECTING THE EXTERNAL TRANSCEIVER The transceiver select jumper consists of two 14-pin sockets and one 14-pin plug. To select the external transceiver for standard Ethernet cable, you have to move the transceiver select jumper from the BNC socket to the socket labeled DIX. The preferred method is to insert the jumper with the notched end toward the rear panel. INSTALLING THE ADAPTER PLATE 1. Slide the clips on the ends of the adapter plate and insert the screws into the clips. 2. Align the slots in the plate with the indents in the lock posts on the transceiver cable and press the plate onto the connector. 3. Plug the plate assembly into the connector on the EtherLink or EtherLink Plus board. Tighten the screws on the adapter plate into the threaded jackposts on the board. (CSS/jlc-03/28/94)
