Logitech C7 Mouse (260-1199) Setup Faxback Doc. # 5447 BACK UP YOUR LOGITECH MOUSE DISKETTE We recommend that you put write-protect tabs on the diskette for the LOGITECH C7 Mouse Standard Package before performing the DISKCOPY command. If you are using a dual floppy disk computer: 1. Insert your DOS diskette in drive a. At the A> prompt, type: DISKCOPY A: B: [ENTER] NOTE: to Zenith users: Zenith recommends use of the VERIFY option with the DISKCOPY command, thus: DISKCOPY A: B: /V [ENTER] 2. Follow the instructions on the screen. Insert your LOGITECH C7 Mouse Standard Package (source) diskette in drive A, and a blank (target) diskette in drive B. Press [ENTER]. If you are using one floppy disk and a hard disk: 1. At the DOS A> prompt or C> prompt, type: DISKCOPY A: A: [ENTER] 2. Follow the instructions on your screen. The source is your LOGITECH C7 Mouse Standard Package diskette, and the target is a blank diskette. MTRACK, THE MOUSE TEST PROGRAM The MTRACK Test Program is on the LOGITECH C7 Mouse Standard Package diskette. It tells you: * Whether your mouse is connected to COM1 or COM2. * Whether your mouse is working electrically. * Whether the mouse buttons are working. It is especially important to run MTRACK when you use your mouse for the first time. To run MTRACK: 1. Dual Floppy Disk Users: Switch the computer ON. Insert your DOS disk in drive A and bring up the A> prompt. then remove the DOS disk. Hard Disk Users: Switch the computer on and bring up your DOS prompt. 2. With the LOGITECH C7 Mouse Standard Package diskette in drive A, type: A: [ENTER] A:MTRACK [ENTER] You'll see the welcome message for MTRACK. 3. Press [F1] to determine whether your mouse is connected to COM1 or COM2. In most cases, you will be at COM1. If not, press [F2]. When you have identified the correct serial port, MTRACK will display the port name at the bottom of the screen. You'll also see Button Status, which should read: Up Up Up. 4. Press the mouse buttons. Observe the Button Status display as you press each mouse button. The corresponding Up changes to Down. 5. Move the mouse and observe the screen. The cursor should move as you move the mouse. 6. To exit MTRACK, press [ESC]. IF YOU ARE USING ONE FLOPPY DISK AND A HARD DISK DRIVE: 1. At you DOS prompt, insert the LOGITECH C7 Mouse Standard Package diskette in drive A and type: A:INSTALL [ENTER] 2. A prompt asks you to identify your disk system. Type: A:HARD [ENTER] 3. Read the rest of the information on the screen and follow the instructions. NOTE: Consult the READ.ME files for information about which files are installed and which directories are used. TIME-SAVING AUTOEXEC.BAT COMMANDS When your installation is complete, you may want to add some commands to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file is DOS to automatically load the mouse driver and the menu driver each time you start the computer.
