TANDYLINK Adapter (260-5601) Installation Faxback Doc. # 5474 TANDY 100O COMPUTERS WITH VERTICAL EXPANSION BOARDS You insert expansion boards vertically in the Tandy 1000, 1000 SX, 1000 TX, 1000 HD, 1200, the Tandy 4000, and all Tandy 3000 computers. For these computers, you must have the TandyLink Adapter Kit Cat. No. 26-5601. NOTE: The Tandy 1000 also requires either the Tandy Expansion Memory Board (Cat. No. 25-1004) or the Memory PLUS Expansion Board (Cat. No. 25-1011). Such a board is only necessary for the Tandy 1000. The Tandy 1000 SX and the Tandy 1000 TX do not require an extra memory board. The following steps provide a brief outline of how to install the TandyLink Adapter in these computers. For additional information on how to open your computer and install option boards, refer to the manuals that came with your computer. 1. Before beginning installation, turn your computer off and disconnect it from any peripherals and from the electrical outlet. 2. Remove your computer's cover as described in your owner's manual. 3. Note that each expansion slot has either one or two card-edge connect- ors. If your computer has a one-connector slot available, use that slot for your TandyLink Adapter Board. If a one-connector slot is not avail- able, use a two-connector slot. Remove the retaining screw, and lift our the metal tab from the rear of the expansion slot you select. 4. Carefully align the TandyLink card-edge connector over the edge con- nector socket, and lower the board. When you are certain of the align- ment, press the connector firmly into place. 5. Replace the screw to secure the TandyLink Adapter Board. 6. Replace your computer's cover. The computer is now ready to be installed in a TandyLink workgroup. (dkh-08/03/93)
