A.   OPERATION

     1.  The Tandy ARCNET Adapter is designed to operate with
         any Tandy PC compatible system.
         A. Standard BNC female connector
         B. Downward compatible with SMC ARCNET boards designed
            for star networks

B.   RELIABILITY

     1.  SMT (Surface Mount Technology) manufacturing has been
         employed for higher component density and smaller size.
     2.  The chip count has been reduced by incorporating the
         LAN Controller, LAN Transceiver, and Support Logic into
         a single custom chip, 90C63.

C.   REDUCES CONFLICTS

     1.  Utilizes minimum address space
         A. 2K without the auto-boot PROM
         B. 10K with the auto-boot PROM
     2.  Can be used in conjunction with both the enhanced 
         graphics adapter (EGA) and the Intel Above Board
         cards without conflict

D.   SWITCHES AND JUMPERS

     1.  All switches and jumpers are clearly labeled.
     2.  The switches are located on the top edge of the adapter
         providing easy accessibility and modification without
         removing the board from the system.

E.   IDENTIFYING LABEL

     1.  The identifying label on the outer edge of the board
         contains the board type and space for PC number or
         node ID.
     2.  The label simplifies network expansion by allowing
         verification of the node IDs before selecting one for an
         additional PC.

F.   OPTIONAL AUTO-BOOT PROM

     1.  An 8K by 8 PROM socket is provided on the board.
     2.  It enables a diskless PC to access the network.
     3.  It may also be used as a convenience on any system
         with floppy and/or hard disk drives.
