Dual Port Serial Board (250-3049) Installation Faxback Doc. # 5489 The Dual Port Serial Board is designed to work with the Tandy 1000, 1200 HD, 3000 and compatibles. The instructions for removing the cover of these three computers are given below. If you are installing the Dual Port Serial Board into a compatible computer, refer to your Guide to Operations manual for instructions on removing the cover. TANDY 1000 COMPUTER 1. Turn off and unplug your computer. Disconnect all attached peripherals. 2. Remove the two screws holding the main unit's top cover. Remove the cover by sliding it forward and off. TANDY 1200 HD COMPUTER 1. If your computer is new, proceed to step 4. 2. After the DOS prompt, type "shiptrak" and press return. The following message will appear on your monitor screen. Remove power from the System Now! 3. Make sure the disk drive activity indicators are off. Remove any diskette that might be in the diskette drive. 4. Turn off and unplug your computer. Disconnect all attached peripherals. 5. Remove the four screws holding the main unit's top cover. Remove the cover by sliding it forward and off. TANDY 3000 COMPUTER 1. Turn off and unplug your computer. Disconnect all attached peripherals. 2. Remove the three screws hold the main unit's top cover. Remove the cover by sliding it forward and off. INSTALLATION 1. Now that all switch settings have been made, you can mount your Dual Port Serial Board in your computer. On most system units, the board can be installed into any of the I/O slots. 2. Locate the slot in which you want to install the Dual Serial Board. Remove and save the retaining screw holding the small metal cover plate. 3. Remove and save the cover plate. If, at a later time, you take the Dual Port Serial Board out of your computer, replace the cover plate. 4. Plug the Dual Port Serial Board into the bottom connection. Be sure the gold "fingers" on the bottom of the Dual Serial Board are firmly and evenly seated into the connector on the motherboard. 5. Replace the retaining screw. 6. Double check your work. Replace the main unit's cover. Tighten screws. Plug in the computer and all peripherals. Insert a diskette. Turn unit ON. (dkh-08/03/93)
