If neither of the two preconfigured settings is satisfactory (or if you are installing more than two adapters in the same computer), you MUST set the jumper to SOFT and run the soft- ware setup program to configure the adapter. ROM JUMPER A. W2 should be set to NONE/SOFT if you are not using a ROM device. B. Only Boot ROMs v2.0 and later should be used with this adapter board. C. Correct installation 1. Carefully insert ROM device into the ROM socket. Avoid touching the pins and align the notch in the ROM device with the notch in the socket. 2. Configure the ROM window size and base address. Most ROM devices use 16K of address space. Move the jumper at W2 to D8000. This allows the ROM to respond to addresses in the range D8000 - DBFFF. If that range is occupied, leave the W2 jumper at NONE/SOFT and use the software setup program to establish the ROM base at another location. If it is necessary to change the window size from 16K to 32K or 64K, you must use the setup program. BOOT ROM OPTIONS W2 1 2 NONE/SOFT XXXXXXXX D8000 O O (SMM/jlc-03/28/94)
