ETHERLINK Board 3C501 (260-5435) Testing Faxback Doc. # 5609 MS-DOS diskette, version 3.x+ (or your current version) EtherLink Diagnostic Software diskette supplied with the board Loopback plug (A Loopback plug can be ordered from 3Com or assembled by connecting a network cable terminator to each end of a T-connector) RUN THE LOOPBACK TEST 1. Boot to MS-DOS 3.x+ 2. Replace DOS diskette with Diagnostic Software 3. From the A> type 3C501 4. If the board passes, you see the message "Your Computer Passes Diagnose" 5. If the board fails, you see the message "TEST FAILS Probable Cause: Hard Controller Failure" 6. Before assuming the EtherLink board is bad, check the following A. Check the installation of the board B. Test a known good board in that computer C. Check the jumpers on the 1st board D. Check for a conflict with other boards E. If changes were made to the Etherlink board, retest it (dtc-08/03/93)
