Fax Modem (250-3581) Terminal Emulation Faxback Doc. # 5800 This document lists BitCom's supported terminals and explains how to use the terminal emulation. Advanced users can print and read the file EMULATE.TXT, which is in BitCom's program disk. This file explains how to modify an existing emulation file and how to create your own emulation file. SUPPORTED TERMINALS Most mainframes will support one of the terminals below. The following includes the names of the files BitCom uses for terminal emulation. Note that each ends with "EMU". ANSI color/graphics terminals ANSI.EMU DEC VT100 with ANSI support VT100A.EMU DEC VT100 with ANSI support VT100B.EMU and VT52 support IBM 3101 terminal 3101.EMU IBM 3708 terminal 3708.EMU IBM 7171 terminal TV1920.EMU TeleVideo 920 terminal TV19XX.EMU terminals Wyse 50 terminal WYSE50.EMU Wyse 60 terminal WYSE60.EMU USING TERMINAL EMULATION 1. Find out which terminals the mainframe supports. 2. Create a phone record or open the Communications Parameters menu of an existing phone record 3. Enter the parameters needed to make a connection with the host. NOTE: If you are using ANSI emulation to receive ANSI color or graphics, set the Input and Output filers to No. 4. In the Emulation field, enter the name of the selected emulation file, without the .EMU extension. Example: If you want to emulate the ANSI terminal, enter ANSI. 5. Select the Quit command to save the changes. 6. Select the new record. 7. Make a connection. BitCom will automatically invoke the emulation file, and your keyboard will emulate the selected terminal. NOTE: You might need to redefine some of BitCom's Special Keys in the communication Parameters Menu. For example, BitCom uses the function key F1 for Help. On the DEC VT100 terminal, however, F1 is used as the Gold Key. (SMC/all-7/5/94)
