With a Tandy Direct-Connect Modem DCM-5, your computer or data terminal can
communicate with other computers or terminals via ordinary telephone lines.

The Direct-Connect Modem DCM-5 was designated to work with any Tandy com-
puter or data terminal that has RS-232C capabilities. These include:

* Model I/III
* Model 4/4P
* Model II/12/16/16B
* Color Computer
* Tandy 1000/1200/2000/6000
* DT-1/DT-100 Data Terminal

You can program the DCM-5 from your computer keyboard for various operat-
ional modes. For example, you can set the DCM-5 for manual/originate or
manual/answer mode, in which you will manually dial the telephone number or
answer an incoming call when you are contacting a remote computer. Or, you 
can program the DCM-5 for auto/originate or auto/answer mode, in which the 
DCM-5 will automatically dial the telephone number of a remote computer or 
answer an incoming call.

Also, you can program the DCM-5 to automatically seize the telephone line
after a specified number of rings.

You'll need some software--any program containing RS-232 drivers and re-
ceivers will work. Your local Radio Shack store has several suitable pro-
grams, such as Videotex Program Pak.
