DMP 206 (260-2906) Printer Drivers Faxback Doc. # 5857 INSTALLING/SELECTING THE PRINTER DRIVER: The diskette provided with your printer contains the software you need to operate your printer with Windows 3.1 applications. Before you install the printer driver, we recommend you read the PRINTER.TXT file on the diskette, the PRINTER.TXT file contains all the information necessary to install the printer driver, as well as all other pertinent information regarding this software. The printer driver tells Windows what information to send to the printer, including details about printer features, the printer interface, and fonts. *NOTES: -The printer driver is also compatible with earlier Windows releases. -Close all Windows applications before installation. Otherwise you will get an error message when you attempts to install the printer driver. NON-WINDOWS APPLICATIONS: If you are not using Windows, select any of the following printer drivers in your application software: -Tandy DMP 206 or DMP 204 -Epson LQ-850 -Epson LQ-550 If you do not get the proper results when you print, check to see that you have correctly installed the software. If you still have problems, refer to your software's user's guide for further information. WINDOWS: To make the printer work with Windows software, you need to install a printer driver and choose the port you want to assign to the printer. To install the printer driver so you can print from Windows: 1) Turn your computer on and go to the Main Windows menu. 2) Select Control Panel. 3) Choose the Printers icon and press ENTER. 4) When the printer window appears, choose ADD from the menu and press ENTER. 5) Select INSTALL. 6) A message instructs you to insert the printer driver diskette. Insert the "Printer Driver for Windows 3.1" diskette that came with your printer and choose the OK prompt on your screen. 7) When the printer box appears, you will see LIST OF PRINTERS. Select Tandy DMP 206 (EPSON), choose INSTALL. If you wish to use the DMP 206 as your main printer, choose SET AS DEFAULT PRINTER. Windows will copy all files from the diskette to your hard drive, display the name of the printer you chose in the Installed Printers box, and assign a printer port (LPT1) for your printer. 8) Choose CLOSE and press ENTER. USING A PRINTER DRIVER FROM WINDOWS: After you install the printer driver, you can select different print options through the Windows Printer Setup menu. See your Microsoft Windows User's Guide.
