DMP 206 (260-2906) Loading Paper Faxback Doc. # 5860 INSTALLING THE PAPER RACK: Install the paper rack for the type of paper you plan to use. SINGLE-SHEET PAPER: Slide the paper rack's grooves over the printer's tabs. Then, tilt the paper rack so it rests in a slanted position. FANFOLD PAPER: Install the paper rack as described for single-sheet paper. Then, pull the rack up and lay it back in a horizontal position as shown. With the paper rack in a horizontal position, you can slide it forward or backward about 1/4 inch. Slide it backward to open the cover. LOADING SINGLE-SHEET PAPER: 1) Move the paper selector to the single-sheet setting. 2) Set a sheet of paper on the paper rack and slide it down behind the platen until the paper cannot slide any further. Do not turn the paper feed knob. This prevents you from using the auto load feature. 3) Adjust the left paper guide for the paper width you are using. The L in the range indicator shows the standard setting for letter-size (8 1/2-inch-wide) paper. 4) Turn the printer on and pull the paper bail lever toward the front of the printer. The paper advances to the print-start position. 5) Push the paper bail lever toward the back of the printer so the bail is against the paper, If necessary, slide the paper bail roller s so they rest on top of the paper. LOADING FANFOLD PAPER: You can use 1-part of 2-part, standard or fanfold paper from 4 1/2 to 10 inches wide. 1) Remove the paper rack. This exposes the tractors. Move the tractors to match the width of your paper. 2) Open the tractor paper clamps and match the holes in the fanfold paper with the tractor feed gears. Close the paper clamps to secure the paper to the tractor feed gears. 3) Set the paper selector to the fanfold setting. 4) Pull the paper bail lever toward the front of the printer. The paper advances to the print-start position. *NOTE: If the power indicator is flashing, the printer thinks it's out of paper. Remove the paper and load it again. 5) Push the paper bail lever toward the back of the printer so the paper bail is against the paper. 6) Replace the paper rack in the position for fanfold paper. *NOTE Do not let printed paper pile up on top of the unprinted paper. this could cause the paper to improperly feed and might damage the printer.
