DMP 206 (260-2906) Print Density Faxback Doc. # 5861 ADJUSTING THE PRINT DENSITY: The distance between the print head and the paper determines the printing pressure, which affects the darkness and quality of the type. CAUTION: If you do not correctly set the distance between the print head and paper, you might damage the print head. Be sure the print-head gap is correctly set for the type of paper you are using. -Standard, 20-pound - position 3 (a mark shows this is the standard setting) -Most 2-part copies - position 4 or 5 When you begin using a different thickness of paper, run a self-test and adjust the print-head gap until the print quality is good and the paper feeds normally,. See "Running a Self Test." NOTES: -If the print smudges, the paper jams or feeds abnormally, or the ribbon comes loose or slips away from the print head during printing, select a higher setting. -If the print is too light or characters or parts of characters are missing, select a lower setting, (smc-10/04/93)
