Fax Modem (250-3581) View Fax Faxback Doc. # 5896 View Fax lets you view receive faxes from your screen. If you want a hard copy of a fax, you can also print a fax to your printer. From View Fax, you can also rename and sort fax files. OPENING VIEW FAX To open View Fax, type the following command at the DOS prompt: VIEWFAX And press [ENTER]. The View Fax Utilities menu will appear with a list or receive faxes. You can also open View Fax from the Communication Functions Menu by selecting Utility Functions and then choosing View Fax. When BitFax receives a fax, it names the fax file according to the time and date it was received. For example, if you receive a fax at 2.33 p.m. on July 23, BitFax would name the fax: 07231433.TIF The first pair of number indicates the seventh month, of July. The second pair represents the 23rd day. The last four number represent the time (in the 24-hour format) BitFax received the fax. VIEWING A FAX To view a fax, select a fax file and press [F2]. The file will then appear on your screen. You can use the arrow keys to scroll through the fax image. To see the next page, press [F3]. To see the previous page, press the [F2] key. To zoom in on a portion of the fax image, press [F5]. To zoom out, press [F5] again. If the fax was sent upside down or sideways, you can press [F7] to rotate the image 90 degrees or [F6] to rotate the image 180 degrees. To see the entire fax page, press [F4]. NOTE: If you are using an LCD monitor and you are having trouble viewing the fax, you can reverse the screen (make black white and white black) by choosing the Black-and-White option, [F6], from the Main Configuration Menu. PRINTING A FAX To print a fax from the View Fax Utilities Menu, press [F5]. The Print Menu will appear, as shown below. The Filename file will show the name of the selected fax file. The Printer Port and Printer Device field will show the choices you made in the System configuration Menu. You can, however, choose another printer and printer port. If you want to print selected pages of the fax, set the Print All option to NO and specify which pages you want to print in the Start Page and End Page fields. When you are ready to print, press [F5]. NOTE: When printing to a laser printer, it must have at least one MB of memory. To return to the view Fax menu, press [F10]. (SMC/all-07/01/94)
