VGM-150 (25-4090) Using the Windows 3.1 Faxback Doc. # 6079 Note: This file is a Read.me file on the drivers diskette. Follow these steps to set up Windows 3.1 to operate in the full-page mode: 1. Type: fp off to disable FP.EXE. 2. Install Windows and set it up for VGA operation per the Windows 3.1 User's Guide. Verify that Windows operates and exit windows. 3. Make the directory that contains the Windows system files the active directory. For most systems, you do this by typing: cd \windows\system . Note: If you are installing from the 3 1/2-inch disk, place the DRIVERS disk in Drive A. If you are installing from the 5 1/4-inch disks, place the SUPPLEMENTAL DRIVERS 2 disk in Drive A. 4. Type: a:win31 to copy the drivers files to your hard drive. 5. Make the directory that contains the Windows program files the active directory. The easiest way to do this from the system directory is to type: cd .. . 6. Type: win setup to start Windows and enter Windows Setup. 7. Press: in sequence to Change System Settings. You can choose from three display types for the VGM-150: VGM-150 Actual Size View (100%) displays the entire text area of an 8 1/2 x 11-inch page (using 1-inch margins) in the same size as the printed page. Use this selection if you frequently use Windows Write or other programs that do not have a full-page viewing mode. VGM-150 Enlarged View (120%) displays a view of the printed page, magnified by about 20%, making small characters easier to read. This is the same as the standard VGA mode, but uses the entire screen. Use this selection if you frequently use Windows applications that have a "Page View" or "Print Preview" mode or any similar mode that provides a way to view the entire page. You can also use this selection with Windows Write to dis- play about twice as much of a page as a standard VGA display, but you do not see the entire page because of the magnification used. VGA displays in standard VGA mode on the VGM-150. 8. Highlight the VGM-150 display you want to use and press . 9. Press to select the current driver. 10. Press to restart Windows. Windows restarts in full-page mode. You do not need to repeat this procedure unless you re-install Windows. 11. You can continue to work in Windows, or exit by typing: . Note: The next time you start Windows, it starts in full-page mode. Before you start Windows, first type: fp off to be sure FP.EXE is disabled. Note: If FP.EXE is active when you start Windows, Windows' colors (gray- shades) are not correct. When you select Windows' colors from the Control Panel, try to select the least grainy shades, so characters are sharp and easy to read.
