TAD-271 (430-0707) Storing Numbers in Memory Faxback Doc. # 6139 You can store up to 20 phone numbers in the phone's memory. Each number can have up to 16 digits in the pulse mode, or up to 16 digits in the pulse mode, or up to 15 digits in the tone mode. A PAUSE or FLASH entry, or changing from the pulse to tone mode counts as one digit in memory. Before you store a number, set TONE/PULSE to the correct position. The telephone dials the number in memory in the mode you used to store the number, regardless of the current setting. 1. Lift the handset. Set NORM-STORE to STORE. 2. Enter the telephone number you want to store. The handset sounds a short beep as you press each digit. Note: If you make a mistake, briefly press the switchhook. Then re-enter the entire number. 3. Press MEMORY. Note: You can store a FLASH entry only if you enter it at the beginning of a phone number you store (for example, FLASH, 1, 2 and so on). If you want a FLASH entry between two numbers, store the first number in one memory location. Then store the FLASH entry and other number in another memory location. See "Chain-Dialing Numbers." 4. Enter the desired two-digit memory location number (01-20). A beep sounds. To continue storing numbers in memory, repeat memory, repeat Steps 2 and 3 to store up to 20 numbers in memory. Notes: * Entering a memory location number replaces any telephone number previously stored in that location. * You cannot erase a number from memory, but you can store a new number in its place. 5. Set NORM-STORE back to NORM. 6. Hang up the handset. Note: If you move the TAD from one room to another, be sure you move it within about 5 minutes after you unplug it from the phone jack. Other wise, you could lose the numbers stored in memory. When storing emergency numbers and/or making test calls to emergency numbers: * Remain on the line and briefly explain to the dispatcher the reason for the call before you hang up. * Perform such activities in Off-peak hours, such as early morning or late-evening. Using the Memory-Number Label As you store numbers in memory, write down the names that identify the stored numbers on the provided label. Use a pencil in case you want to change or erase a name on the label. Remove the label's plastic cover inside the cradle. Then, write down the names and replace the cover. Dialing Memory Numbers To dial a number stored in memory, follow these steps: 1. Lift the handset. 2. Press MEMORY. 3. Enter the number for the memory location that contains the number you want to dial (01-20). If you enter a location number that does not contain a telephone number, the handset sounds an error beep.
