TAD-271 (430-0707) Setup Faxback Doc. # 6140 SETTING THE TIME, DATE, AND REMOTE SECURITY CODE The TAD's voice prompt helps you set the time, date, day, and remote security code. To set this information, follow these steps: 1. Press SET. The TAD says "Time of day: set hour: 12.00 a.m. or p.m. correctly.) 2. Repeatedly press FAST-F or REWIND until the TAD says the correct hour. (Be sure to set a.m. or p.m. correctly). 3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to set the minutes, date, day, and three-digit remote security code. Now, each time you press STOP when the TAD is in the stop or answer mode, the TAD announces the time, date, day, the call count, and the message count. The TAD also stamps each message with the time, day and date, so when you play back your messages, you know when the TAD received them. Each time you press PLAY when the TAD is in the answer mode, the TAD announces the call count and message count. Notes: * If you wait more than 30 seconds before you press a button when you set the above information, the TAD enters the stop mode. Return to Step 1. * To change the time, date, or remote security code, repeatedly press SET until the TAD says the item you want to change. Then, repeatedly press FAST-F or REWIND until the TAD says the correct setting. * To reset all settings to their default values, unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery. Then plug in the adapter and re-install the battery. * The three-digit remote security code can be any number from 000 to 999. SETTING THE TAD SWITCHES For TAD operation, set the INCOMING MESSAGE, ANSWER, and CPC switches (on the right side) before you use the TAD. CPC Switch CPC (Call Party Control) lets the TAD know when a caller hangs up. Set CPC to MIN. If the TAD often hangs up during a caller's message, set CPC to MAX. Note: Call Waiting, a service offered by most telephone companies, uses signal identical to CPC signals. If you have call waiting, set CPC to MAX. Otherwise, if the TAD receives a call-waiting signal while the first caller is leaving a message, the TAD might hang up during the message. Incoming Message Switch The INCOMING MESSAGE switch sets the maximum length of the incoming message. ANN ONLY-plays only the outgoing announcement without recording callers' messages. 30 SEC-limits an incoming message to 30 seconds. 3 MIN-limits an incoming message to 3 minutes. At the end of the specified time, a beep sounds and the TAD stops recording and hangs up. ANSWER Switch The ANSWER switch controls how long the TAD waits before it answers a call. IMM (Immediate Answer)-answers after about two rings. DEL (Delayed Answer)-answers after about four rings. TOL S (Toll Saver)-answers by the second ring if you received a message (not counting recorded memos or two-way conversations) since you last checked. Otherwise, it answers after about four rings. The TOL S setting can save you money during long-distance remote operation. If you check your messages by long distance and the TAD does not answer on the first or second ring, you can hang up to avoid the toll charge. (RLR-02-23-94)
