TAD-265 (430-0730) Remote Operation Faxback Doc. # 6158 While you are away from your home or office, you can access the TAD using a touch-tone phone or a rotary phone with a pocket tone dialer (such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 43-141). You must set your personal security code before you begin any remote operations. This prevents unauthorized access to your incoming messages. For your security code, enter any combination of digits, but avoid obvious choices (such as 1234) that might allow someone else to access the TAD. STORING YOUR SECURITY CODE 1. Be sure the TALK indicator is off. 2. Press * then MEMORY. The HOLD/INTERCOM indicator starts to flash and a beep sounds. 3. Press *. 4. Enter your four-digit security code. 5. Press MEMORY to store the code. A long beep sounds and the HOLD/INTERCOM indicator turns off. Notes: * If you receive a call while storing your security code, press TALK to answer the call. After the call, begin again at Step 2 to store the code. * To delete the security code and eliminate remote operation of the TAD, repeat all steps above except Step 4. ACCESSING BY REMOTE CONTROL The TAD must be set to answer calls before remote operation. 1. Dial your phone number. The TAD answers and the outgoing message begins. Remember, if you set the toll saver, the TAD waits four rings before answering if it has received no calls. It answers on the second ring if it has received at least one new message. 2. Enter your four-digit security code. The TAD sounds a 1-sound beep and rewinds the tape to the beginning of the new messages. 3. The TAD plays back new messages and then beeps three times. Remote Answer On The TAD's factory setting is remote answer on. If you did not set the TAD to answer at your home, the remote answer on feature still allows you to access the TAD. Dial your number and let it ring for about 60 seconds. The TAD will answer, and you can then enter your security code and use remote commands. If you want to turn off the remote answer on setting so no one can accidentally access the TAD, do the following: 1. Press * then MEMORY. 2. Press 1 then #. 3. Press MEMORY. To enable remote operation, repeat Steps 1-3, but press * instead of # in Step 2. (RLR-02-24-94)
