TAD-450 (430-0720) Remote Operation Faxback Doc. # 6160 When you are away from your home or office, you can use a touch-tone phone or pocket tone dialer to do any of the following: * Set the TAD to start or stop answering calls * Play your messages * Record a memo * Play your announcement or record a new announcement * Change the answering mode Note: If you plan to check your messages by long-distance, set ANSWER to TOL S to avoid unnecessary long-distance fees. SETTING THE TAD TO ANSWER CALLS If you set MASTER POWER to ON, and install both tapes before you leave your home or office, you can later use any phone to set the TAD to answer calls. To set the TAD to answer calls, dial the phone number and let the phone ring until the TAD answers (about 1 1/2 minutes). When the TAD answers, hang up the phone. Notes: * This sets the TAD to record messages. To set the TAD to announce only, use remote command #. * If the incoming message tape is full, the TAD says "End of tape. Enter remote code." The TAD cannot record additional messages until you play all your new messages. * To prevent the TAD from being set to answer calls, set MASTER POWER to OFF. USING REMOTE COMMANDS To operate the TAD from a remote location, do the following: 1. Dial the phone number. 2. When the announcement begins, press *. The TAD says, "Enter remote code." 3. Enter your remote security code. Be sure each key press is at least 1/2 second long. Note: If you do not correctly enter the code within 10 seconds, the TAD gives an error message. After three errors, the TAD completes the announcement and records your calls as an incoming message. 4. The TAD tells you the current call and message count, plays the new messages, and says, "Enter command or star for help." Enter the command. After each operation, the TAD says, "Enter command." Note: If you do not enter a command within 10 seconds, the TAD hangs up. 1. Rewind Press to review the tape. (You hear the Tape as it rewinds). The tape stops rewinding at the beginning of the tape. 2. Play Press to play the incoming message tape, beginning at its current position. 3. Forward Press to cue forward. (You hear the tape as it fast-forwards.) The tape stops at the end of the new messages. 4. Record memo Press to record a memo. Begin recording after the beep. Press * to stop recording. 5. Play Press to play the announcement announcement 6. Record Press to record a new announcement. Begin announcement recording after the beep. Press * to stop recording. 7. Beginning Press to go to the beginning of the new message of messages group. 8. Monitor on Press to monitor to the sound in the room where the TAD is installed. After 30 seconds, the TAD stops monitoring. To stop sooner, press *. 9. End Press to go to the end of the new message group. of messages 0.
