The Radio Shack TAD-514 is a high quality telephone answering system with
remote control.  It is easy to operate and is ideal for use in either your
home or office.

The remote control feature lets you use most of your answering machine's
features from almost any tone phone.  If you don't have access to a tone
phone, you can use an optional pocket tone dialer for remote operation.

Your TAD's features also include:

                       Toll-Saver - Saves unnecessary toll charges when
                                    you call by long-distance to check
                                    your messages.

Voice-Operated Transmission (VOX) - Stops recording after a few seconds
                                    of silence to conserve tape.

                   Call Screening - Lets you screen calls when you are
                                    at home.

               Messages Indicator - Shows how many messages are recorded
                                    on the tape.

READ THIS BEFORE INSTALLATION

We have designed your TAD to conform to federal regulations and you can
connect it to most telephone lines.  However, each device (such as a
telephone or answering machine) that you connect to the telephone line
draws power from the line.  We refer to this power draw as the device's
ringer equivalence number, or REN,  The REN is shown on the bottom of the
TAD's base.

If you are using more than one telephone or other device on the line, add
up all the REN's.  if the total is more than five, the telephones might
not ring and the answering machine might not answer.  In rural areas, a
total REN of three might impair ringer operation.
