No. 43-146, to do any of the following: Set the TAD to start or stop answering call. Play your messages Record a new outgoing message. REMOTE ANSWER-ON You can call the TAD from a remote location and set it to answer calls if: The cassette tape is installed and you have recorded an outgoing message. The TAD is connected to AC power. Follow these steps to set the TAD to answer a call from a remote location. 1. Dial your phone number. After about 10 rings, the TAD answers the call and beeps. NOTE: If the TAD answers after the second or fourth ring, it is already set to answer calls. 2. Enter your remote operation security code within 8 seconds. NOTE: Wait until the TAD finishes beeping before entering the code. 3. Hang up or use any of the remote control commands. USING REMOTE CONTROL COMMANDS Follow these steps to operate the TAD from a remote phone. NOTE: Unless you enter remote control command 2 (ANSWER OFF), the TAD resets itself to answer calls after remote operation. 1. Dial your phone number. 2. After the outgoing message plays, the TAD beeps continually while it fast-forwards through the incoming messages, then it beeps once. Enter the remote operation security code within 8 seconds. Hold down each button at least 2 seconds. NOTE: If you do not correctly enter the remote operation security code within 8 second, the TAD disconnects the call. If the tape is full when you call the TAD, the TAD answers after two rings. Then it sounds eight beeps instead of the outgoing message. Enter the remote security code within 8 seconds. 3. After the TAD beeps, enter a remote command by pressing the number for the desired function. After each operation the TAD beeps. To end remote operation, hang up the phone. NOTES: If you do not enter a command within 8 seconds after a command prompt, the TAD sounds a beep and hangs up. If you hang up while the TAD plays back messages, the TAD might not recognize that you hung up. If someone calls while the TAD continues to play the new messages, the caller hears a busy signal. REMOTE CONTROL COMMAND DESCRIPTIONS Command Key Command Description 1 Record Outgoing Message Press 1 to record a new out- going message. The TAD beeps while it rewinds to the outgoing position. Begin your new outgoing message. When you finish your outgoing message, press 1 again to end the re- cording. The TAD replays your new outgoing message. 2 Remote Answer Off Before you listen to mess- ages, press 2 to set the TAD to not answer incoming calls. The TAD beeps, dis- connects the call, and turns off. Erase Messages After you listen to your in- coming messages, press 2 to have the TAD record new messages over the old ones. The TAD beeps twice and resets itself. 3 Remote Play Press 3 to play the incoming messages. The TAD sounds tones while it fast-forwards the tape. Then it plays back your incoming messages. TOLL SAVER Toll Saver lets you avoid unnecessary toll charges when calling long distance to check your messages. After the TAD records a message, it answers after two rings. If there are no messages recorded on the tape, the TAD answers after four rings. NOTE: The TAD must be set to answer calls. If you hear more than two rings, you know there are no messages.
