LAB 2250 (420-2921) Care and Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 6263 The Optimus LAB-2250 Automatic Belt-Drive Linear-Tracking Turntable is an example of superior design and craftsmanship. The following suggestions will help you care for your turntable so that you can enjoy it for years. * Keep the turntable dry. If it does get wet, wipe it dry immediately. Liquids can contain minerals that corrode electronic circuits. * Do not force the tone arm or try to turn the platter counter clockwise. Doing so might damage your turntable's internal mechanism. * Use and store the turntable only in normal temperature environments. Extreme temperatures can shorten the life of electronic devices, damage batteries, and can distort or melt plastic parts. * Handle the turntable gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage its case and cause the turntable to work improperly. * Keep the dust cover closed except when you position or remove a record. Dust accumulation on the stylus can cause distortion and premature stylus and record wear. * Wipe the turntable with a dampened cloth occasionally to keep it looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean the turntable or its dust cover. REPLACING THE STYLUS The supplied stylus provides many months of service with normal use. A dirty or worn stylus causes rough, distorted sound and damages records. Clean or replace the stylus when you notice these signs of wear. The local Tandy store carries the proper replacement stylus and stylus cleaning accessories. To replace the stylus: 1. Press [POWER]. 2. Press and hold [ << ] to move the tone arm approximately 2 inches from the tone-arm rest. 3. Firmly grasp the cartridge and gently pull down on the stylus to remove it. 4. Insert the new stylus. RECORD CARE * Always hold the records by the edges. Touching the grooved surface can leave fingerprints that can collect dust and dirt. * Always return the records to their jackets immediately after use. This protects your records from dust and scratches. * Store your records in a vertical position and protect them from extreme temperatures, moisture, and direct sunlight. The local Tandy store carries full line of record cleaning accessories so you can keep your records in top condition. (CJD/rlr-04/05/94)
