LAB-2250 (420-2921) Troubleshooting Faxback Doc. # 6264 ELIMINATING SPEAKER HOWLING At high volumes, your turntable's tone arm and cartridge might pick up speaker vibrations through the floor, the furniture, or even through the air, causing a howling noise from your speakers. If this happens, move your speakers or the turntable so that the vibrations do not reach the turntable, or turn down the volume. ELIMINATING SPEAKER HUM If you hear a low hum from your speakers when you use your turntable, be sure that the turntable's ground wire is properly connected. If you still hear a hum after checking the ground wire, the turntable's cartridge might be too close to your receiver/amplifer. Move the turntable slightly away from the rest of the system. TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE Sometimes, a simple operational problem can be mistaken for a malfunction or failure of the turntable. Check the following suggestions to find your problem and its possible solution. Problem Solution The turntable platter * Plug the turntable's power cord securely do not rotate into a wall outlet. * Be sure the drive belt is properly installed. No sound * Connect the turntable's phono cables securely to your receiver/amplifier's phono input jacks. Distorted sound * Clean the stylus tip with a soft brush. * Install a new stylus. * Clean the record. Intermittent sound * Install a new stylus. * Replace the record. * Clean the record. If you have problems playing records, the problem might be caused by one of the other components in your stereo system. Be sure to check your receiver/amplifier, speaker system, and related equipment.
