Model 129 (160-0829) Audio Editing Faxback Doc. # 6300 The audio editing feature lets you record a new soundtrack on a previously recorded tape without erasing the original picture. When you use audio editing, the previous audio is erased and replaced with new sound. You can use sounds picked up by the camcorder's built-in microphone, an external microphone, or signals from an audio source connected to the camcorder's AUDIO jack. Note: To edit using an external audio source, set AV IN/Edit/AV OUT to AV IN. To edit using sound from the built-in or an external microphone, set AV IN/EDIT/AV OUT to AV OUT. 1. Insert the recorded cassette. Be sure the erase-protection tab is intact. 2. Slide the power switch to VCR so the power indicator lights. 3. Play the tape up to the point where you want the audio dub to start. Then press PAUSE/STILL. The camcorder enters the freeze-frame mode. 4. Press AUDIO INSERT. AUDIO DUB.|| appears in the viewfinder. 5. Start the new audio source, and press PAUSE/STILL to begin audio dubbing. AUDIO DUB. appears in the viewfinder. 6. Press STOP to stop audio dubbing. Note: To prevent feedback squeals, turn down the volume controls on any TV or monitor connected to the camcorder. VIDEO EDITING The video editing feature lets you record new video on a previously recorded tape without erasing the original soundtrack. When you use video editing, the camcorder replaces the previous video with new pictures. You can record what you see in the viewfinder, whether it is from the camcorder's lens or another video source connected to the VIDEO jack. Note: To edit using an external video source, set AV IN/EDIT/AV OUT to AV IN. To Edit using the image seen through the camcorder's lens, set AV IN/EDIT/AV OUT to AV OUT. 1. Insert the recorded cassette. Be sure the erase-protection tab is intact. 2. Slide the power switch to VCR so the power indicator lights. 3. Play the tape up to the point where you want the video edit to end. 4. Press COUNTER MEMORY/DISPLAY until M appears in the viewfinder next to the counter reading. Then press COUNTER RESET to reset the counter to 0000. 5. Rewind the tape past the video editing position. Then press PLAY to reach the exact starting position. When you reach the start position, press PAUSE/STILL. 6. Press VIDEO INSERT. INSERT II appears in the viewfinder. 7. Press PAUSE/STILL to start video editing. When the counter shows 0000, the camcorder automatically enters the freeze-frame mode, and video editing stops. To stop editing before reaching 0000, press STOP. Note: To protect the tape and conserve battery power, the camcorder automatically stops and turns itself off if left in the record pause mode for more than 5 minutes. (BR/all-07/13/94)
