North Park Fashion Phone (430-0831A) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 6305 CONNECTING THE HANDSET CORD Plug one end of the supplied coiled cord into the handset jack on the left side of the phone's base. Plug the other end into the jack on the handset. Note: Longer coiled handset cords are available at your local Radio Shack store. CONNECTION TO THE PHONE LINE Follow these steps to connect the phone to a modular jack. 1. Plug the supplied phone cord into the jack on the back of the phone. 2. Plug the other end of the cord into a modular phone jack. Notes: If you do not have a modular phone jack, you can either update the wiring yourself or the phone company can update it for you. Radio Shack stores sell the jack and adapters necessary to convert from older wiring methods to modular wiring. The telephone company will charge you for installation of necessary jacks. The telephone company will ask you for the USOC number of the jack to be installed. This number is RJ11C. SETTING THE TONE/PULSE SWITCH Set TONE/PULSE on the back of the phone for the type of service you have. If you are not sure which setting to use, do this simple test. 1. Set TONE/PULSE to TONE. 2. Lift the handset and listen for a dial tone. 3. Press any number other than 0. If the dial tone stops, you have touch-tone service. Leave TONE/PULSE set to TONE. If the dial tone continues, you have pulse service. Set TONE/PULSE to PULSE. SETTING THE RINGER SWITCH The RINGER HI/LO/OFF on the back of the phone lets you set the ringer's volume to suit your needs. Set the RINGER HI/LO/OFF to OFF when you do not want the ringer to sound. You can continue receiving calls on the phone by lifting the handset when the ringer indicator flashes or other phones ring on the same line. (LB/smc-05/04/94)
