System 208 (430-0616A) Setup Faxback Doc. # 6350 ADJUSTING THE LINE STATUS INDICATORS 1. Lift the handset and press LINE 1. 2. Place the call. 3. Place the call on hold by pressing HOLD. 4. Adjust the LN1 line adjust in the back of the unit using the supplied screwdriver (located inside the wall-mount bracket) until Line 1's indicator blinks steadily. 5. Repeat Steps 1-4 using Line 2 and the LN2 adjustment. If you do not want the Line 2 status indicator to light - for example, if you are using the System 208 telephone on a single-line system - turn the LN2 ON/OFF switch to OFF. NOTE: After you finish making adjustment, put the screwdriver inside the wall mount bracket, in case you need to re- adjust in the future. TO SET THE DIALING MODE (TONE/PULSE) 1. Set TONE/PULSE to TONE. 2. Lift the handset. 3. Press LINE 1. 4.. Press any number key. If the dial tone stops, you have touch-tone service on that line. Otherwise, you have pulse (rotary) service. 5. Repeat Steps 2-4 for Line 2. 6. If you have pulse service on either line, set TONE/PULSE to PULSE. Otherwise, leave it set to TONE. SETTING THE RINGER SWITCHES Set the RINGER OFF-LO-HI switches to the desired volume level for each line. If you set the switch to OFF, the ringer does not sound. You can still use the telephone to make and receive calls if you hear another extension ringing. RECORDING YOUR PHONE NUMBERS Lift the plastic cover from the telephone number plate, using a paper clip or other pointed object. Write the telephone numbers for Lines 1 and 2 in the space provided.
