TAD-276 (430-0762) Remote Control Faxback Doc. # 6375 While you are away from, your home or office, you can use a touch-tone phone or pocket tone dialer to enter your security code and do any of the following: Set the TAD to answer calls Listen to your messages Record a new announcement Record a memo Erase messages Monitor the room where the TAD is located REMOTE ANSWER-ON You can use any remote phone to set the TAD to answer calls, even if STOP/ON is set to STOP. The TAD must be plugged into AC power, and the outgoing message tape must be installed for remote answer-on to operate. To remotely set the TAD to answer calls, dial your phone number and wait about 12-14 rings until the TAD answers. Once the TAD answers, it is set the answer mode. Hang up the phone or proceed with remote operation be- ginning with Step 2 under "Using Remote Control Commands." After you hang up, the TAD answers calls and records incoming messages, if the incoming message tape is installed. USING REMOTE CONTROL COMMANDS NOTE: The TAD automatically resets to answer calls after remote operation. To Operate the TAD from a remote touch-tone phone follow these steps. 1. Dial your phone number. 2. When the outgoing announcement begins, press 2 to bypass the outgoing announcement. The announcement stops, and the TAD beeps. 3. Enter the 3-digit remote operation security code shown on the bottom of the TAD within 7 seconds. Be sure to press each button at least 1/2 second. The TAD beeps twice. If no beeps sound, re-enter the code. NOTE: If you do not press a button within 7 seconds, the TAD hangs up. 4. For a few seconds, you hear the sound of the tape rewinding. Then the TAD plays back the incoming messages. At the end of each message, the TAD announces the day and time it was recorded. After all the Messages play, the TAD beeps twice. Enter a remote control command or hand up the phone. NOTES: If your telephone line has CPC service and you hang up while the TAD is playing back the messages, it stops playback immediately and resets at the end of new messages to answer the next call. If you do not have CPC service and you hang up while the TAD is playing back the messages, the TAD might not recognize that you hung up. If someone calls while the TAD continues to play the messages, the caller hears a busy signal. We recommend that you play all the messages or fast-forward the tape using remote control commands until the TAD beeps twice before you hang up. This is to ensure you hear all your messages. ROOM MONITORING You can use remote operation to listen to the room where the TAD is located. 1. Dial your phone number. 2. Press 2 to bypass the outgoing announcement. 3. Enter the remote code. 4. Within 5 seconds of entering the remote operation security code. Press 2 again. The TAD beeps twice. You can listen to the room where the TAD is located for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, the TAD beeps twice. If you want to continue listening, press 2 again within 5 seconds of the beep. Otherwise, monitoring automatically stops. To stop listening sooner, before the beep press 2. REMOTELY CHANGING THE OUTGOING ANNOUNCEMENT You can change the outgoing message remotely. To Change only the first announcement: 1. Dial your phone number. Wait for the answering machine to begin playing the outgoing messages. 2. Press 2 to skip the rest of outgoing message and TAD beeps. 3. Enter the remote operation security code. 4. Within 5 seconds, press 1, 2, and then 3. The outgoing message tape rewinds, and the TAD sounds a long beep. 5. After the beep, speak your new outgoing announcement into the phone's receiver. 6. When you finish press 1. A confirmation tone sounds and your first outgoing announcement is stored. The outgoing message tape auto- matically rewinds and plays back the announcement. If you do not like what you hear and you want to change the outgoing announcement, enter the security code and repeat the above steps. To change only the first announcement: 1. Follow steps 1 through 4 above. 2. When you finish recording the first announcement, press 2. The TAD sounds a confirmation tone. 3. Speak your second outgoing announcement into the phone's receiver. 4. When you finish, press 2 again. A confirmation tone sounds and your second outgoing announcement is stored. The MC-20 tape rewinds automatically and plays back both announcements. If you want to change the outgoing announcements again, enter the security code and repeat the above steps.
