Wireless Paging System (170-6020) Operation Faxback Doc. # 6390 STORING THE TRANSMITTER'S SYSTEM CODE Follow these steps to store the transmitter's system code. 1. Set POWER to ON. 2. Use a pointed object such as a straightened paper clip to press the SYSTEM CODE button on the bottom of the transmitter. The transmit display shows the previous system code for about 1 second, then shows ---. 3. Enter a three-digit system code. After about 1 second, the display shows ---. The system code is stored. 4. If you enter the wrong code, reset it by pressing AC/, CANCEL, or SYSTEM CODE. Then repeat Steps 2 and 3 to store the system code again. STORING THE RECEIVER CODE Before you can use the receiver that comes with the system or any additional receivers, you must set the receiver's code. Note: You must reset all receivers' codes when you store a new system code. Follow these steps to store the receiver code. 1. With the receiver off, press and hold the ON/OFF switch, then slide ON/OFF to ON. Continue pressing and holding ON/OFF until the display shows bars for about 5 seconds, then shows an L, indicating the receiver is ready to receive a new code. 2. On the transmitter, enter a two-digit receiver code (from 00 to 99) and then 0. 3. Press TRANSMIT. The transmitter sends the code to the receiver. The receiver beeps four times and flashes L on its display four times. Then it beeps 12 times and flashes 0 on its display 12 times to confirm that it has received the message code 0. For example, if you want the receiver to have a new receiver code of 38, enter 38 and 0, then press TRANSMIT. Note: If the receiver does not successfully store the receiver code repeat these steps. TRANSMITTING A MESSAGE CODE Transmitting a Message to a Single Receiver 1. Set POWER to ON. 2. Press A/C or CANCEL if the display shows unwanted receiver or message codes. 3. Enter the two-digit code for the receiver you want to get the message, then the one-digit message code you want to send. Note: If you enter the wrong receiver or message code, press A/C or CANCEL, then re-enter the correct codes. 4. Press TRANSMIT. The TRANSMIT display lights during transmission. The receiver's display flashes the message code number. See "Receiving A Message Code." Notes: a. You cannot use A/C or CANCEL to correct the codes after you press TRANSMIT. b. Press TRANSMIT again to resend the message code to the receiver. 5. Press A/C or CANCEL, then repeat Steps 3 and 4 if you want to transmit a message code to another receiver. TRANSMITTING A MESSAGE TO ALL RECEIVERS 1. Set POWER to ON. 2. Press A/C or CANCEL if the display shows unwanted receiver or message code. 3. Press ALL and the one-digit message code you want to send. The TRANSMIT display shows AL and the message code number. 4. Press TRANSMIT. The TRANSMIT display lights during transmission. Receivers that are turned on display the message code. RECEIVING A MESSAGE CODE If the message code is transmitted to any individual receiver that is on, the receiver sounds 12 beeps and flashes the received message code on its display. Press ON/OFF to silence the receiver before it finishes beeping. The 12 beeps and message code display repeat about 10 seconds later. Press ON/OFF to silence the receiver when it beeps again, or the receiver beeps once about every 60 seconds to remind you that there is a new call. Press ON/OFF to stop the receiver from beeping every 60 seconds. If the message code is transmitted to all receivers, the receiver repeats the 12 beeps three times at about 30 second intervals. Press ON/OFF to silence the receiver. REVIEWING STORED MESSAGE CODES The receiver can store eight message codes. Repeatedly press ON/OFF. The display shows the stored message codes one by one, from newest to oldest-indicates the end of the stored message codes. When the memory is full and a new message is received, the oldest message code is deleted from memory. If a newly received message code is identical to the last one, if is not stored. All stored message codes are erased when you turn off the receiver. (LB/smc-04/26/94)
