ET-145 (430-0598) Operation Faxback Doc. # 6405 To answer calls or make calls using manual dialing, use the phone the way you use any other phone. You can also make calls using memory dialing, memory chain dialing, or redialing. MEMORY DIALING To dial numbers stored in memory, lift the handset and press the desired memory button (MEMORY 1, MEMORY 2, or MEMORY 3). USING TONE SERVICES ON A PULSE LINE If you have pulse service, you can still use special services that require tone signals, such as bank-by-phone, by following these steps: 1. Call the service using pulse dialing. 2. When the service answers, set PULSE/TONE to TONE. 3. Follow the normal procedure for the special service you are using. Any additional numbers you dial are dialed as tone signals. Set PULSE/TONE back to PULSE after your call. REDIALING The redial memory holds up to 16 tone digits, so it can store long- distance numbers as well as local numbers. To redial the last number dialed, pick up the handset and press REDIAL. The phone will automatically dial the number. Note: If you dial more than 16 tone digits, the phone clears the redial memory and no digits are stored. USING THE EQUALIZER Make a test call so you can adjust the equalizer controls for your hearing needs. Lift the cover to expose the equalizer controls and indicator. Then lift the handset from the cradle and dial the telephone number. When the person answers the phone, press EQUALIZER so the indicator lights. Set the equalizer frequency ranges to the desired volume levels. When you hang up the handset, the equalizer and indicator turn off and the phone resumes normal operation. To use the equalizer setting you selected, press EQUALIZER so the indicator lights. Note: You might need to re-adjust the equalizer settings for some calls. 600 Hz - Use this control to increase or decrease the volume of low bass frequencies. 1200 Hz - Use this control to increase or decrease the volume of middle bass frequencies. 1800 Hz - Use this control to adjust the midrange frequencies. The ear is most sensitive to this frequency range. 2400 Hz - Use this control to adjust the high frequencies. (LB/smc-04/28/94)
