Signature Fashion Phone (430-0823) Operation Faxback Doc. # 6460 To make a call, you can manually dial this phone as you would on any other standard phone, or you can use its redial feature. NOTE: If PULSE/TONE is set to PULSE, it takes the phone a few seconds to finish dialing. Each time you dial a number, the telephone stores that number in a temporary memory. To call the last number dialed, simply lift the handset and press REDIAL. If the number you dial is busy, you can leave the handset off the hook and press REDIAL to have the phone send a hangup signal and automatically redial the number. NOTES: The REDIAL memory stores up to 31 digits in tone mode and 32 digits in the pulse made. We recommend that you do not use REDIAL to dial a special service, such as a long distance service. REDIAL does not insert a pause to wait for additional tones. USING MUTE If you want to speak with someone in the room without the person on the phone hearing your conversation, press and hold MUTE. To resume you phone conversation, release MUTE. USING THE FLASH BUTTON Many special phone services require a switchhook signal. You can send a switchhook signal by quickly pressing and releasing the switchhook, but pressing FLASH sends the same signal more accurately and conveniently. For example, if you subscribe to call-waiting (a special phone company service), press FLASH to put one call on hold and take another call. NOTES: If you do not have special phone services, pressing FLASH might disconnect the call. The redial memory does not store a FLASH entry or any buttons you press after FLASH. USING TONE SERVICES ON A PULSE LINE Many special phone services, such as an alternative long-distance service, require tone signals. If you have pulse service but want to use these special tone services, follow these steps. 1. Set PULSE/TONE to PULSE. Then dial the special service's phone number. 2. When you hear the second dial tone, set PULSE/TONE to TONE. 3. Follow the special service's procedures for entering additional information, such as your personal identification number and the number you want to call. 4. After you complete the call and hang up, set PULSE/TONE back to PULSE. NOTE: Digits dialed after you change the PULSE/TONE setting are not stored in the redial memory. (CJD/smc-04/12/94)
