PRO-2034 (200-0411) Understanding Your Scanner Faxback Doc. # 6471 A LOOK AT THE DISPLAY: The display has indicators that show the scanner's current operating mode. A quick look at the display will help you understand how to operate the scanner. MON - Appears with numbers (1-10) to the right to show which monitor memory you are listening to. See "Monitor Memories" and "Listening to Monitor Memories." BANK - Appears with numbers (1-10) above and to the right to show which channel-storage banks are turned on for the scan mode. See "Understanding Channel-Storage Banks." SCAN - Appears when you scan channels. MANUAL - Appears when you manually select a channel. PROGRAM - Appears while you program frequencies into the scanner's channels. PRIORITY - Appears when you listen to the priority channel. CH - The digits in front of this indicator show which of the 60 available channels the scanner is tuned to. MHz - Digits that precede this indicator show which frequency your scanner is currently tuned to. ERROR - Appears when you make an incorrect entry. LOCKOUT - Appears when you manually select a locked-out channel. DELAY - Appears when you listen to a channel that you programmed for a two-second delay. WX - Appears when you scan the 7 preprogrammed weather band channel. SEARCH - Appears during a limit search (when L - also appears), direct search (when d - also appears), or when scanning the weather band channels. Up arrow or down arrow also appears on the display to indicate the search direction. A LOOK AT THE KEYBOARD The scanner's keys might seem confusing at first, but a quick glance at this page should help you understand each key's function. PRIORITY - Sets and turns on and off priority for a particular channel. LOCKOUT - Lets you lock out selected channels. SCAN - Scans through the channels. MONITOR - Accesses the 10 monitor memories. WX - Scans through the 7 preprogrammed weather channels. MANUAL - Stops scanning to let you directly enter a channel number. DELAY - Programs a two-second delay for the selected channel. PROGRAM - Programs frequencies into channels. Up Arrow - Searches up from the currently displayed frequency. LIMIT - Displays and lets you set the range of frequencies to search during a limit search. DOWN ARROW - Searches down from the currently displayed frequency. CLEAR - Clears an incorrect entry. NUMBER KEYS - Each key has a single-digit label and a range of numbers. The digit on the key refers to the number of a channel or a frequency entered. The range of numbers above the key (25-30, for example) indicates the channels that make up a channel-storage bank. - Enters the decimal point when you enter a frequency.
