If the scanner is not working as it should, follow the suggestions below
to see if you can eliminate the problem.  If you cannot, take the scanner
to the local Radio Shack store for assistance.

  Symptom                                   Solution

  Scanner is on but will not scan.          Be sure SQUELCH is adjusted
                                            properly

                                            Be sure SCAN is displayed.
                                            See "Scanning the Channels."

  Scanner does not work at all.             Check the AC adapter and AC
                                            outlet

  Scanner locks on frequencies that         Be sure "birdie" frequencies
  have an unclear transmission.             are not programmed, or listen
                                            to birdie frequencies
                                            manually.

  Keys do not work or display is random.    Reset the scanner.  See
                                            "Resetting the Scanner."
