Security Auto Dialer (490-0434) Installation Faxback Doc. # 6519 SELECTING A LOCATION Select a location for the dialer that is: Near a telephone jack and an AC outlet. Near the alarm system's controls. Out of an intruder's view. CONNECTING TO THE TELEPHONE LINE You can connect the dialer to a pulse only or a pulse/touch-tone phone line. Connect the supplied phone cable's modular plug to a standard modular telephone jack. Then plug the other end into the dialer's jack (RJ11C). If the phone jack is not a modular jack, you must update the wiring. You can convert the wiring yourself, using jacks and adapters available at your local Radio Shack store. Or, you can have the phone company update the wiring for you. NOTE: The phone company will charge you for the installation of the necessary jacks. They will also ask you for the USOC number of the jack to be installed. This number is RJ11C. CONNECTING TO AC POWER Insert the supplied AC adapter's small plug into the DC 12V jack on the side of the dialer. Then plug the AC adapter into a standard AC outlet. CAUTION: Use only a UL-approved Class 2 AC adapter that supplies 12 volts DC, delivers 200 milliamps, and has a positive center plug that properly fits the dialer's DC 12V jack. The supplied adapter meets these specifications. Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could damage the dialer or the adapter. NOTE: During normal operation the dialer is powered by the included AC adapter. If AC power fails, the dialer is powered by the alarm's auxiliary battery power. SETTING THE DIALING MODE Set the MODE switch on the dialer for the type of service (tone or pulse) you have. (CJD/all-06/23/94)
