Wireless Home Control (610-2610) Motion Detector Faxback Doc. # 6545 Motion detectors are designed to detect motion in a specific area of your home. For example, you might want to protect the area around a stereo system, jewelry box, or wall safe. The supplied motion detector can "see" up to a distance of about 40 feet with a 90 degree field of view. It can be placed up to about 100 feet away from the console. You can place the motion detector on a counter top or use the included mounting bracket. The mounting bracket allows you to swivel the motion detector to up or down and left or right. For the best coverage, place the bracket/motion detector at a height of 6 feet, then position the lens so an intruder walks across its path rather than toward it. Looking at the back of the motion detector, set the switch on the left side to 1 (most sensitive) or 2 (less sensitive). When set to 1, the motion detector trips the alarm if ANY movement is detected. When set to 2, the motion detector must detect two movements or continuous movement within a short time before it trips the alarm (less sensitive to pets). Set the switch on the right side so the motion detector functions with the handheld remote's arm home/away modes. When the switch is set to NORMAL, the motion detector triggers the alarm when you arm the console in either the home or away mode. The console also sounds a chime when the system is disarmed, and the motion detector detects movement. When set to HOME/AWAY, the motion detector only triggers the alarm when you arm the console in the away mode, and there is no chime. Use this setting if you want to arm the system in the home mode so you or your pets do not accidentally trigger the motion detector when moving around the house at night. Note: The motion detector senses motion by detecting a change in temperature. To help prevent false alarms, do not place the motion detector near a heating or air conditioning vent. LOCATING THE LAMP MODULE When the alarm trips, lamp connected to lamp modules (set to the same house code as the console and connected to the same electrical circuit as the console) flash on and off during the alarm. After 4 minutes (or when you disarm the alarm), the lamps stop flashing and remain on. If you arm the system to give an exit delay, lamp modules set to the same house code and unit code as the console turn on during the exit countdown time. You can also control lamp modules set to this code with the LIGHT ON and LIGHT OFF buttons on the remote control. Choose a lamp you want to be a part of your security system. Make sure the lamp's on/off switch is on and plug the lamp into the supplied lamp module. Plug the lamp module into any convenient AC outlet. If the outlet has an on/off switch, turn it on. Note: The lamp/AC outlet must be switched on. Otherwise, you cannot turn it on/off with a remote control, and it does not flash on/off during an alarm. Set the house and unit code dials on the lamp module to the same letter and number as you set on the console. (LB/all-07/11/94)
