Five-In-One Remote Control (150-1908) Features Faxback Doc. # 6567 INTRODUCTION Your Radio Shack Five-in-One Remote Control can replace up to five standard infrared remote controls. Unlike some universal remote controls, the 5-in-1 is preprogrammed and does not have to learn its commands from the original remote controls. All you have to do is tell the 5-in-1 which remote controls you want it to replace (by entering 3-digit codes) and the 5-in-1 does the rest. It's as simple as A-B-C. This manual includes a list of 3-digit manufacturer's codes for TVs, VCRs, cable converters, compact disc players, laser satellites, and other popular remote-control devices. After you've entered the 3-digit manufacturer's codes for your original remotes, the 5-in-1 is automatically ready to operate most of the same functions as the original remotes. THE FEATURES OF THE 5-IN-1 ARE: Replaces Other Remotes - lets you replace up to five remote controls with one easy-to-use remote control. Powerful Inferred Beam - in many cases, lets you operate your remote control devices from a greater distance than the original remote controls. Convenient Keypad Design - places the control keys in the perfect positions for ease of operation. Handy Reference Label - provides a convenient place for you to write down the manufacturer's codes and the 5-in-1's alternate function keys. Toll Free Support - Lets you get expert help for your 5-in-1 by calling 1-800-989-5000. HOW THE 5-in-1 WORKS Before you begin to use the 5-in-1, it is helpful to understand a little about how it works - nothing technical - only an idea of what you can expect from the 5-in-1 and its different groups of keys. When you set up the 5-in-1, its command keys work like the keys on your original remote controls, though the labeling might slightly differ. For example, a key on your original remote control labeled PWR ON/OFF is equivalent to the 5-in-1's POWER key. Notes: Whenever you use the 5-in-1's RECORD or QTR key, you must press it twice. This safety feature helps prevent you from accidentally erasing audio or video tapes. When you see references to TRACK + or TRACK - in this manual, you must press TRACK followed by the + or - key. When you use the 5-in-1 to replace extremely complex remote controls, the 5-in-1 might not have all the keys of the original remote control. But, in most cases, the 5-in-1 can duplicate all commonly-used commands from the original remote controls. Occasionally, the 5-in-1 will not be able to duplicate some of the original remote control's seldom-used functions. The PROG key at the bottom of the 5-in-1 is a special key that you use when you set up the 5-in-1 to replace your original remote controls. The TV, VCR, CABLE, and AUX keys are device keys. You use them when you set up the 5-in-1 to replace your original remote controls. You also use the device keys during normal operation to tell the 5-in-1 which device you want to control.
