Hi-Performance Stereo Cassette (120-1944) Operation Faxback Doc. # 6582 PLAYING THE RADIO Turn on the vehicle's ignition if necessary. Then, turn VOLUME clockwise to turn on the stereo. To listen to the radio, do the following. 1. Press AM/FM to select the band. Select A1 or A2 for AM stations. Select F1, F2, or F3 for FM stations. 2. Tune to the desired station in one of following ways: Manual Tuning: Turn the TUNING control clockwise or counterclockwise to tune the radio to the next higher or lower station. Auto-Seek Tuning: Press and release TUNING to automatically seek up the selected band for the next strong station. If you press TUNING after you tune to the highest number station in a band, the tuner returns to the bottom of the band to seek for the next strong station. The stereo indicator ST lights when you tune to a strong FM stereo station. Note: About 5 seconds after you tune to a station, the display changes to the clock. To check the tuned frequency, press FREQ. 3. Adjust VOLUME, BASS, TREBLE, FADER, and BALANCE to suit your listening preferences. See "Controlling the Sound." 4. To turn off the radio, turn VOLUME counterclockwise until you hear a click. USING MEMORY TUNING You can store up to 12 AM and 18 FM station in memory. Your radio has two memory groups for the AM band (A1 and A2) and three memory groups for the FM band (F1, F2, and F3). You can store up to six stations in each memory group. You can manually enter stations into a memory group or you can let the stereo search for the next six stations in a band and automatically store them into a memory group. You can select a stored station by selecting the memory group and pressing the correct channel button, or you can scan all stations in a memory group. Manually Storing Stations Follow these steps to manually store radio stations. 1. Press AM/FM for the desired band and tune to the desired station. 2. Press and hold down any of the channel buttons (1-6) for at least 2 seconds. CH and the channel number appear on the display. 3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to store up to six stations in the selected memory group. Then, press AM/FM to change memory groups and follow Steps 1 and 2 to store up to six more stations. Note: You can use each channel button only once to store a station in the selected band. Automatically Stored Stations Follow these steps to quickly store six adjacent stations into a memory group. 1. Press AM/FM to select the desired memory group. Then, tune to the station that immediately precedes the stations you want to store. 2. Press and hold down AMS/MS for at least 2 seconds. From the currently tuned station, the AMS (Automatic Memory Storage) system searches for the next six strong stations in the selected band and stores them into memory. 3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to store six stations in another memory group. Tuning to a Stored Frequency To tune to a stored frequency, press AM/FM to display the desired band. Then, press the channel button for the desired frequency. The frequency and channel number appears on the display. Scanning Stored Stations Use the AMS/MS (Memory Scan) button to scan the stored stations. 1. Press AM/FM for the desired band. 2. Press AMS/MS to scan through all the programmed stations in the selected band. Scanning stops at each station for about 5 seconds. CH and the station's frequency appear on the display with the channel number flashing. 3. To stop on a station, press AMS/MS again. (LB/all-07/12/94)
