System 710 (130-1253) CD Changer Faxback Doc. # 6637 LOADING CDs Follow these steps to load CDs: 1. Press FUNCTION to select CD. 2. Press OPEN/CLOSE for the compartment where you want to load a disc. The disc tray opens with the compartment you want on the right. 3. Load the disc into the front disc compartments, label side up. To load 3-inch CDs, place them in the middle of the disc holders. CAUTIONS: Do not stack CDs in the tray. This could damage the changer and the CDs. When loading a third CD, do not try to load it without first rotating the tray as explained below. 4. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button that is not flashing to rotate the disc tray. Insert a disc into the empty compartment. 5. Press either flashing OPEN/CLOSE button to close the disc tray. CAUTION: Do not force the tray open or closed. You might damage the loading mechanism. PLAYING CDs Follow these steps to play CDs: 1. Press DISC 1, DISC 2, or DISC 3 PLAY for the CD you want to play first. Playback begins from Track 1. The OPEN/CLOSE button for the CD currently playing lights. The music program indicators shows the total number of tracks (up to 20). The CD changer plays all tracks in order. The music program indicator for a track that has played disappears when that track plays. 2. Press a TUNER/CD-10KEY button on the remote control to select a track. When CD playback ends, the changer stops. NOTE: If you want to play the discs continuously, press REPEAT 3. Press PLAY/PAUSE to temporarily stop play. The pause indicator appears on the display. Press PLAY/PAUSE again to resume play. 4. Press STOP if you want to completely stop playing the disc. CHANGING A DISC WHILE PLAYING ANOTHER Follow these steps to open the tray and change a disc while playing another. 1. Press OPEN/CLOSE for the disc that is not playing now. You can check which disk is playing on the florescent display. 2. Change the front disc(s) and press either flashing OPEN/CLOSE to close the tray. CAUTION: Only load CDs in the two front disc holders. Do not try to force a CD into the back disc holder. Doing so might cause the CD to jam, damaging the System 710. The disc loaded there is now in playback position. OTHER FEATURES Automatic Search Music Systems (ASMS) Follow these step to select a track while the player is stopped or playing. 1. Repeatedly press ASMS |<>| until the desired track's number appears on the display. 2. If the player is stopped, press PLAY/PAUSE to play the track. If a CD is playing the selected track automatically starts playing when you release ASMS |<>|. Cuing a Track You can cue a track to immediately play from the beginning. When you start the player, the track's first sound immediately starts. This feature is useful for disc jockey, recording, and any other time you want to skip the silent lead-in to a track. You must be in stop mode to cue a track to immediately play music. 1. Press PLAY/PAUSE until the pause indicator appears on the display. 2. Press ASMS |<>| until the desired track number appears on the display. 3. Press PLAY/PAUSE to begin play. Audible Search To search for a track section, press and hold down >> or << on the remote control during play. The CD player rapidly plays in the direction of the arrows. When you hear the section you want, release >> or << to resume normal play. Volume reduces during audible search. When the player reaches the CD's end during search, the player stops and the display shows -.-. When the player reaches the beginning of a CD during a search, the display shows zeros and then begins normal playback. Sequence Programming With sequence programming, you can program up to 30 tracks in any order you choose. Use the remote control for programming. You must be in stop mode to program a sequence. 1. Press PROG. PROG flashes on the display. NOTE: If the player has not read the track information from the CD when you press PROG. WAIT appears on the display. Start programming after WAIT changes to READY. 2. To program a track, press TUNER/CD-10KEY to select the track you want. For a two-digit track number, press + 10 first (once for a number in the teens, twice for a number in the twenties, or three times for thirty), and then enter the second digit. The track number and corresponding music program indicator light. The program number (P-01, P-02, and so on) appears on the display. 3. If you load more than one CD and want to program a track on another CD, press CD PLAY 1, 2, or 3 for the CD you want. Then select the track. To program all tracks on a disc, press CD PLAY 1, 2, or 3 twice for the desired CD. The program number increases by the total number of tracks on that disc. 4. Press PLAY/PAUSE to start sequence program play. The player plays the tracks in the order that you programmed them. NOTE: During programmed play, you can select or cue a track or use audible search in the programmed order. 5. Press STOP to stop the programmed play. The programmed sequence is still stored in memory. 6. Press CLEAR to clear the program memory. NOTE: Opening the disc tray or turning off the power also clears the program memory. Adding to the Program Following these steps to add tracks to the program after it has started: 1. Follow Steps 1 to 3 of the normal sequence programming procedure. Additional tracks are added and played back at the end of the original program. 2. Press PLAY/PAUSE. Program Recall During stop or program mode, press ASMS |<>| to see the programmed disc and track numbers in memory. Random Playback You can set the CD changer to play tracks in a random order. Press RANDOM on the remote control. R - and the music program indicator appear on the display as the CD changer starts selecting tracks. When you load more than one CD, tracks are randomly chosen from all discs. When it finishes selecting, playback starts and the music program indicator for the chosen track goes out. When the playback of the track is over, the changer selects the next track in the same way. NOTE: If the player has not read the CD information when you press RANDOM, WAIT appears on the display. Random programming starts after WAIT disappears. Repeat Play You can repeat regular playback, a programmed sequence, or random playback. 1. Press REPEAT on the remote control during playback. REPEAT appears on the display. During regular playback, the loaded discs (1, 2, or 3) repeatedly play. During a programmed sequence play, only the programmed tracks repeatedly play. During random play, the random selection starts anew after all the tracks have been played. 2. Press STOP to stop play. 3. To cancel repeat play, press REPEAT. Time Counter Display Use the time counter to display remaining track or CD time. Press DISPLAY on the remote control. The display changes as follows: During normal play: Track elapsed time display Track remaining time display CD total remaining time display Clock display During a programmed sequence or random playback: Track elapsed time display Track remaining time display Program total remaining time display (-:- in random playback mode) Clock display CD Care Although a CD lasts indefinitely with normal use, we recommend the following precautions: Keep the CD in its protective case or sleeve when you are not playing it. Handle the CD by its edges to avoid fingerprints, which can prevent the CD player's laser beam from reading the CD. You local Radio Shack store sells CD cleaner kits. Keep the CD dry. A water drop can act as a lens and affect the laser beam's focus. The CD player has a wide dynamic range. As s result, if you turn the amplifier's volume too high during soft (low volume) program sections, you might damage your speakers when a sudden loud passage plays. When you move the player, be sure to remove all CDs from the CD compartments. Do not place foreign objects in the CD compartment. Doing so can damage the mechanism. Laser Safety: The CD player uses a laser. Only a qualified service person should remove the cover or attempt to service this device, due to possible eye injury. (ALL-9/9/94)
