SCR-59 (140-1205) Playing a Cassette Faxback Doc. # 6653 Using the built-in speaker, you can listen to tapes in monaural sound. To listen to tapes in stereo, you need a pair of headphones. Warning: To protect your hearing, set VOLUME to its lowest level before you play a tape. 1. Pull open the cassette compartment door. 2. Insert a cassette tape into the cassette guides so the open edge faces up, the full reel is to the right, and the side you want to listen to faces toward the door. 3. Set TONE to LOW (for Metal Type 1V/CRO2 Hi-Bias Type II tape) or HIGH (for normal tape). 4. Press PLAY. 5. Adjust VOLUME to a comfortable listening Level. Note: When you use the built-in speaker, the sound from the left and right channels is mixed together. 6. To stop the tape any time it is playing, press STOP. When the tape reaches the end; it automatically stops. Notes: To stop playing or recording momentarily, slide PAUSE to IN. Slide PAUSE to OUT to continue playing or recording To advance or rewind the tape, press FAST-F/CUE or REWIND/REVIEW. The button locks down, and the tape movement continues until you press STOP. If you press FAST-F/CUE or REWIND/REVIEW while the tape plays, you hear the tape playing at high-speed. This can help you locate a specific portion of the tape. USING THE TAPE COUNTER The tape counter shows you the tape's current playing position, making it easier to locate a particular segment. Before you play a tape, press the reset button to set the counter to 000. As the tape plays, the counter advances. (br/all-7/11/94)
